Welcome to Letters of Senses
I am sure most of you will agree, Love Letter is the best movie ever. At least, it was Miho's best movie. Although getting old now (1995, five/six years), Love Letter is still in all of Miho's fan's memeroies. Everyone, new and old to Miho, should enjoy this brief introduction to Miho's movie, Love Letter.

How Love Letter starts
Miho Nakayama's character, Hiroko Watanabe, is a quiet girl whose fiance, Itsuki Fujii, died in a mountain climbing accident three years ago. She was visting Itsuki's mother once, when she found Itsuki's old school year book in her house. There, she copied down his address, and sent him a letter. A letter with no destination. A letter to heaven.

Developing the plot
It turns out there were two Itsukis in Hiroko's fiance's class, both with the same last name too, except one was a girl and the other was a boy. Hiroko had copied down the wrong address, and the letter which she thought should have been on its way to heaven, is in fact...
The female Itsuki Fujii wakes up one morning, feeling cold, ill, and sees a letter directed to her from Kobe (where Hiroko lives). Curious by the content of the letter, she sends a letter back...
Dear Hiroko,
I am fine, just a little ill.
Thank you.
Itsuki Fujii
(something like that anyway)
Watching Love Letter
The story of Love Letter carries on from there, how Itsuki will cope with this sudden Hiroko appearing in her life, and how Hiroko finally gets through (through, not over) her memeroies with her gone boyfriend, Itsuki.
By the way, the female Itsuki is also played by Miho!

Dear Aki,
How are you? I'm fine.
Sincerely, Hiroko

After reading, don't you want to watch Love Letter again? Okay, so it wasn't a good enough review, but its still a good movie! Anyway, my favorite scenes, Miho lying in snow, in the beautiful country of Japan. |
